At 66°North, we believe good design is built to last. This June at Other Circle in Copenhagen, we’re bringing the concept of "Úlpa", a jacket that has been passed down through generations, into a new conversation about circular design with a unique installation.

"In Iceland, everyone has an ÚLPA - a single jacket, that you keep for years, so whatever the weather - you are ready for anything. We want to take the concept of úlpa to the world and encourage a reevaluation of the role of clothes, replacing endless consumption with fewer garments that work harder for longer."

As we approach 100 years, we look forward through transformation as we explore the úlpa not just as outerwear, but as a symbol of circular thinking, a reflection of the values that have shaped our work from the very beginning.
Born in a place where nothing could go to waste, our approach has always been defined by resourcefulness. This mindset laid the foundation for our design philosophy long before words like "circularity" became part of the conversation.
In Iceland, where 66°North was founded, nothing could go to waste , every material was used, repaired, and repurposed out of necessity. That same mindset guides us today.
For the installation at Other Circle, we re-used faulty Dyngja jackets , pieces that didn’t meet our production standards but still carried the same strength and character. Instead of discarding them, we transformed them into a new form: a flowing white cape, originally created for Shygirl’s performance at the British Fashion Awards.
It’s a reflection of the resourcefulness that has shaped us since 1926 , finding new purpose in what others might overlook.
