Fishermen's sweater through generations
Garðar Guðmundsson has been a fisherman since he was a teenager. For him, the sea is not just a job, it’s a connection to generations past. Among the gear he brings onboard each trip is a sweater once worn by his father, a deeply personal piece that carries memories, tradition, and meaning. We met with Garðar and heard his story.

”The first time I went out to sea was during the summer when I was 14 years old. I was with my grandfather, my father, and my uncles. It was a small, family-run fishing operation.”
”My dad owned this sweater; I think he got it around 1990. I wore it a lot and borrowed it plenty of times too. Then my dad passed away very suddenly, almost 12 years ago now. Today, the sweater always comes with me out to sea. When I feel like I need to connect with my dad, I have it, I can put it on.”

At 66°North, we believe in clothing built to last, through weather and over time. The sweater that Garðar wears to honor his father is the inspiration for the 66°N sweater that is a part of our collection today.
