For over half a century, we have been producing clothing for Icelanders in various working-class industries, ranging from protective clothing for fishermen to construction workers. This heritage is partly built on a vast amount of workwear archives. This summer, some of these archives become alive again.
For the third edition of our Copenhagen editorial, 66°North presents the SS19 editorial “Walk the woods” - a seasonal exploration of functional clothing with understated technical styling. For this season, the SS19 editorial is about showing that braving the outdoors doesn’t necessarily mean traveling to remote places or exploring the outskirts of nature, but rather proving that anyone can and should enjoy the outdoors and feel comfortable while doing so.
The featured SS19 collection draws inspiration from Icelandic outdoors, its surroundings and the environment. It consists of garments made from biodegradable fabrics, polyester from recycled plastic bottles and Seaqual, a material made of recycled plastic collected at the bottom of the sea.
Our products still emphasize functionality and classic technical fabrics, as they are designed to protect us from the unpredictable elements of being outside – whether it’s the Sunday walk in the woods or strolling down the streets of the city center.
