1. What is 66north.com?

66north.com is the online site and trading name of 66°North Ltd which is one of Iceland’s oldest manufacturing companies. Established in 1926, it's been a longtime leading innovator in the creation of specialised clothing for use in the toughest conditions on land and sea. 66°NORTH Ltd prides itself on being an expert in the production of supreme quality clothing for sports and leisure. Not only does 66°NORTH have happy customers, but an impressive list of awards for its designs and marketing campaigns.

The company employs more than 300 people. It operates 10 shops in Iceland under the names of 66°North and Iceland Gift Store, as well as four shops in Latvia. Furthermore, the 66°NORTH brand is sold in retail stores in Northern Europe and the USA.

4. What is so great about 66NORTH?

There’s certainly a lot of outdoor clothing on the market these days but you won’t find a brand with such a strong connection to a country and its culture and lifestyle as ours. Unlike many of our competitors, 66°NORTH is an authentic brand with a proud history. We began in Iceland more than 85 years ago with durable, waterproof garments designed to protect our fishermen from the harshest of weather out at sea. It wasn’t long before we started producing clothing and accessories for those on land too, including a layering system to combat the coldest of days.

And we don’t like to brag - but our fit is like nothing you’ll find in any other outerwear line. Try on any of our garments, from a technical softshell jacket to a fully insulated parka, and we’ve got you covered - from functionality to fashion.

 

5. Will you share my e-mail address with other companies?

No. We take your privacy concerns very seriously.  We do not sell or share customer e-mail addresses.

6. What browsers does 66north.com support?

66north.com supports all latest internet browsers.  It is recommended to have the latest version of Java and Flash installed.  Some of our Editors Picks articles are in Adobe Acrobat format.

7. How do I return my order(s)?

Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.  If for any reason you are not satisfied with items purchased at 66north.com, you can return your purchase within 30 days for a full refund in the form of original payment of the bought item (shipping cost not included). All tags must still be attached to the item.

11. Can I cancel my order?

Call our Customer Service department at +(354) 535 6600 between 08:00 AM and 05:00 PM GMT, or send an email to 66north@66north.com as soon as possible with any cancellations or changes.

12. Do you charge sales tax on orders?

No, V.A.T. is not included in the total price.

13. What forms of payment do you accept?

Currently we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express. We do not accept cash, cheques, or money orders toward purchases made on our site, nor do we accept any type of mail orders.

14. Is it safe to shop with my credit card or debit card on 66North.com?

We strive to maintain a safe environment for our customers to shop online. We are a Secure Site. This means the transit of all credit card information is encrypted and transmitted without risk using a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. Read more about our security standards here.

15. When I try to checkout, I receive an error message stating ...

If this happens, return to the billing address information on your order. Make sure the billing address listed is the address where the credit card statement is sent. If you continue to have difficulty, please contact our Customer Service department by telephone at +(354) 535 6600.

16. Why was my order cancelled?

First, please make sure that you entered the correct credit card number and information when you placed your order. As a practice of our business, we randomly and routinely contact our customers to verify order information. If you receive a message, please return the call to +(354) 535 6600 or email us at 66north@66north.com to confirm your order information. If you do not return the call or email, this will delay the processing of your order. If you do not return the call or email within 48 hours, your order will be cancelled.

We provide these services as a protection for our customers and hope that you will be pleased with the high standards of business practices on our website. If you continue to have difficulty, please contact a Customer Service Representative by telephone at +(354) 535 6600.

17. I have a valid credit card but my order is not approved, what could be wrong?

It is very likely that your credit card is "reserved for national use" which means that the card can only used on the internet in the country it is registered at. These settings are determined by the bank issuing the card so they should be able to clear the card to be used outside your home country. Note that this could mean that it is restricted that you cannot buy from Icelandic company like ours with the card. The card therefore needs to allow internet purchases from Iceland.

To solve this you need to contact your credit card handler and tell them to allow internet transactions to Iceland after that the transaction should go smoothly through.

19. What is a Card Verification Number?

Card Verification Number is a 3 or 4 digit number found in the signature area on the back of your credit card or on the front of your American Express card. We require the Card Verification Number to be entered when purchasing from our site to ensure that the order is being placed by the actual cardholder. This is one of the many practices we utilise on our website to protect our customers from credit card fraud.

20. How does your sizing run?

True to our brand, 66°NORTH has a traditional European cut which is much more snug and form fitting. Customers from USA should note that European sizes are usually translate to one size larger than you normally purchase

21. Why are the models not smiling in the ads?

Our ads come directly out of Iceland and are 100% authentic. Our award winning advertising group has won multiple EPICA awards for the unique, stark 66°NORTH, ads. Although they don't seem happy - we promise they are smiling on the inside and love what they are wearing!
