About Iceland

Iceland is a refreshingly unconventional travel destination. The Icelandic nature is unspoilt, exotic and mystical with its spouting geysers, active volcanoes, tumbling waterfalls, towering mountains, vast lava plains and magical lakes. Iceland’s fjords, glaciers and highland plains present visitors with some of the most beautiful and enchanting places they will ever see, as well as a rare feeling of utter tranquillity.

For travelers on a quest for action, Iceland’s pristine nature offers great potential for outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, cave exploring, hiking, swimming, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and mountain safaris on modified four-wheel drives, to name but a few. Iceland supports a surprisingly diverse Nordic flora and fauna and is an ideal place for ornithology enthusiasts, while also offering some of the world’s best whale watching destinations.

66°North Iceland

Discover 66°North in Iceland

66°North is Iceland

66°North is Iceland Iceland is a place where the earth’s beauty and splendour is alive in a primordial way. Volcanoes, glaciers, geysers, waterfalls and ever-changing weather are set against a backdrop of wide-open, almost mystical spaces. Summer is one long day interrupted briefly by a few hours of darkness. Winter can be dark and harsh but for the brightness radiating from the cheerful spirit of the Icelandic people.

Living here means participating in the striking mosaic of nature’s extremes. There is the unspoiled simplicity of a proud culture and tradition combined with a surprisingly integrated and advanced modern technological society. This mosaic is perfectly reflected in the Icelandic apparel line known as 66°NORTH. Our name reflects the 66°N latitude line, the edge of the Arctic Circle, which intersects with Iceland in its most northern parts.

66°North is Iceland Iceland is an often forgotten island in the middle of the North Atlantic, sometimes not even shown on simplified maps. Iceland may not be front and centre on the world stage, but it has certainly been remembered by nature’s forces. The island is a living study of extreme geological and weather conditions. These natural wonders also provide the world’s best laboratory for our gear. Changes in weather can occur in the blink of an eye or the turn of a wheel. It is common to see a combination of sun, rain, sleet, snow and ice blizzards in the course of a single hike or trek up a glacier.

These climatic conditions combined with a sparse population provide us with a unique perspective when it comes to designing and developing our products. Icelanders wear our gear, not only for adventurous excursions, but also for running errands (trips to the grocery store) or for a night out on the town in Reykjavík. Our small, closely connected population, is like a national “focus group”, providing us with an immediate performance response. Our gear is worn year-round for years on end. Durability is a non-negotiable requirement. Icelanders, who also have a proud heritage of being well travelled and cultured, are also keenly aware of European fashion trends and the need to integrate fashion into outerwear that can be worn in all seasons.

We invite you to experience 66°NORTH, a true Icelandic brand and one of Iceland’s national treasures.KeilirEsjaGlymurHengillTindurKatlaBláfellKjölurSúlurLakiAskjaVíti
