Note from our CEO

Halldór G. Eyjólfsson, CEO of 66°North. 66°North has been in the business of keeping Iceland warm since 1926. Our highly-evolved garments are practical, innovative and stylish, providing an assured level of quality that has earned the trust of Icelandic people for decades. We are continuing to experience strong growth outside of Iceland, and are delighted with the world-wide attention our garments attract.

66°North was born out of necessity. For human beings to survive in the extreme Icelandic environment, they must be protected from the elements. We provide the ability for people to step out into our amazing backyard – so they can live their lives, no matter what the weather throws at them.

Our name reflects the 66°N latitude line, the edge of the Arctic Circle, which intersects with Iceland in its most northern parts. This name doesn’t just represent where you will find us on a map. It pinpoints a unique place on earth that dictates every aspect of how and why we develop the clothing our customers have come to expect from us. 66°North believes in open meetings and discussions about the environment to discover new ideas to help us lessen our footprint on mother earth. We continually ask ourselves what impact the fabrics and other materials we use might have on the environment.

So there you have it, 66°North products protect Iceland’s adventurous children, fishermen, farmers, police, firefighters and the world’s largest voluntary rescue team – our Icelandic rescue team.

The harsh yet fascinating natural environment of Iceland is reflected in the design of our 2009 winter collection. All of us at 66°North would love to share our designs and our Icelandic soul with the world.

As the CEO of 66°North I am truly passionate about leading such a talented team. They dedicate their hearts and souls to our products and brand.

Halldór Eyjólfsson
66°North Iceland, CEO.
