The start of your film career
66°North's Video Contest is now going strong in Iceland's elementary schools. The company is setting this up but the idea comes from Mr. Sigurjon Sighvatsson, a successful Hollywood film maker and owner of 66°North. He wanted to give children with interest in the medium of film and video the chance to put their talent to the test in this field.
The panel of judges, made of Ms. Katrin Jakobsdottir, Iceland's Minister of Education and Culture, Julius Kemp, film director, Sigurjon Sighvatsson, film maker and Bodvar Bjarki Petursson, the schoolmaster of the Icelandic Film Academy, will go through the videos and choose the winner of the competition. The videos will also be posted on the Internet so the public can participate by giving their votes. Those votes will have an influence in the final outcome.
This year's theme is Icelandic industry.
