Exbetition grant of 66°North
Every year, 66°North gives out two expedition grants worth 500,000 ISK each to individuals or groups. The grants are both clothes for the expedition, and money up to 200,000 ISK.
A great number of groups and individuals sent in their application for the Challenging expedition to New Frontiers grant and the panel of judges has decided who will receive the grant this year. Those are members of the Icelandic Alpine Club, Skarphedinn Halldorsson, Bjorgvin Hilmarsson and Sveinn Fr. Sveinsson, who are planning a trip to Lofoten in Norway. The goal of the tour is to climp steep granite cliffs and mountains near Lofoten. They are going to an area seldom visited, and yet close to Iceland. It is not known that a group of Icelanders have gone to Lofoten to climb the spectacular peaks of that area.
The picture shows Skarphedinn Halldorsson, 66°North's CEO Halldor G. Eyjolfsson, and Sveinn Fr. Sveinsson. Bjorgvin Hilmarsson is not in the picture.
